The village of Vernassal is situated in the Haute Loire not far from Le Puy en Velay (24km), South West of Lyon and South East of Clermont Ferrand.
Coming from Lyon:
- From Lyon take the A47 towards St Etienne.
- On arriving at St Etienne take the N88 towards Le Puy en Velay.
- Just before Le Puy take the exit to Brioude, Clermont Ferrand (N136) follow this around Chadrac until it joins the N102. Stay on the N102 until you reach the roundabout at Coubladour (approx 18km).
- Take the first exit at the roundabout and follow the road until you reach Darsac (5km).
- Follow the road until it crosses the railway tracks then take an immediate left to Vernassal (D273).
- On reaching the village continue up the rue Principale. After 200m, the Ancienne Ecole is on your left just before the road turns sharply to the right.
Coming from the Clemont Ferrand :
- From the A71 take the N102 towards Brioude.
- Follow the N102, direction Le Puy en Velay until you arrive at Fix St Geneys
- If the weather is good, you can take a left in this village just after the boulangerie onto the D273 signposted to Vernassal If there is snow or ice, it is recommended that you follow the N102 to the large roundabout at Coubladour (5km further on) and follow the instructions above.
- IIf you do take the D273 from Fix St Geneys, upon arriving in Vernassal the road bears to the right. Follow this down the hill until it takes a sharp left.
- The Ancienne Ecole is directly in-front of you
